About Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy aims to assist you in changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours in your life. As well as discussing your current situation we will also explore some of your earlier experiences as these may affect you later on in life. Psychotherapy is a safe, confidential and non judgmental space where we will work together to explore and address whatever is troubling you.

What can I expect?

The initial meeting is an assessment where we discuss whatever is on your mind. It is also a chance for us to see whether you feel comfortable to continue with the work at this time and also what the best options moving forward are. For some people time limited work may be suitable and the preferred option. Time limited therapy consists of twelve sessions and usually addresses a specific issue that is troubling you. For other people open ended work will be more suitable.

Adolescent Psychotherapy

Alongside my work with adults I'm also a trained adolescent psychotherapist. I currently practice adolescent counselling and psychotherapy in Brentwood, Essex but previously had clinics in Harley Street and Hertfordshire also. Adolescence is a transitional period of development where both physical and psychological changes are negotiated. It is a turbulent phase and brings with it its own stresses and concerns, for parents as well as the adolescents themselves. If you are a parent who is concerned about their son or daughter please feel free to contact me.

If an adolescent is struggling in any area psychotherapy can assist him or her in negotiating difficult and painful problems which may be holding them back from their full potential. Some problems encountered during adolescence are eating disturbances, peer pressure, exam stress, confusion regarding identity, differences in behaviour at school/home, obsessive behaviours and self harm to name a few.

While adolescence presents with its own stresses and strains, it is also a rich time of development where positive and effective changes can be made.

What does therapy cost?

Therapy can be expensive however I believe it should be accessible to all regardless of their financial situation. I therefore do offer lower cost places at all of my practices should you not be able to afford the minimum fee. This will be discussed at the initial assessment. My sliding scale fee for Brentwood is between £55-£90 per session.
